Cultured Stone®

House with Cultured Stone® manufactured stone veneer in Piedmont Old Country Fieldstone

Owens Corning Cultured Stone® products originated in 1962 when two brothers saw the need for a new kind of building material and developed manufactured stone veneer – exact replicas of natural stones used for construction.

Cast in flexible molds and colored with metal oxide pigments, manufactured stone veneer is made with lightweight aggregate materials that make them about one-quarter the weight of full-thickness stone. This eliminates the need for additional support that would typically be required for brick or natural stone. Cultured Stone® manufactured stone veneer is very durable and requires no further chemical finishing or maintenance – like sealing and painting.

Cultured Stone® manufactured stone veneer products also contain fly-ash, a byproduct of another manufacturing process. The purchase and use of this material avoids having it go to landfills.

Owens Corning Cultured Stone® is the nation’s most recognized, most used and highest quality brand of manufactured stone veneer, according to the results of the 2007 Brand Use Study by BUILDER magazine and the 2006 survey by Masonry Construction. Additionally, the 2006 Remodeling magazine reader panel ranked Cultured Stone® as the most preferred manufactured stone product for exterior siding. Results of these surveys are just a few of the many reasons the Cultured Stone® business adopted its tagline – The Preferred Name In Stone™.
