Life Cycle Management

When Owens Corning makes a product, we’re aware of its potential long-term effect on people and the environment. That’s why we added the principles of life cycle management to our Product Stewardship process – a process we’ve had for more than a decade.

Life cycle management is being used to maximize the net positive environmental impacts of products:

  • starting with the extraction of resources for raw material inputs,
  • continuing through processing and manufacturing of all feedstocks,
  • into product use, and
  • finally, to product end-of-use.

An example of life cycle management has been applied to our proposed Gresham, Oregon foam insulation plant. It will be the first manufacturing facility in North America to utilize a blowing agent that meets the Montreal Protocol in advance of the 2010 compliance date.
